OCALA, Florida, Feb. 17, 2024–Jessica Howington rode Serenade MF to victory in the World Equestrian Center CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday, in the first international competition since buying the 11-year-old American-bred mare two months ago.
Jessica and Serenade scored 68.915% for the win a day after placing second in the Grand Prix in this event in the rider’s hometown.
Jessica bought the mare from Alice Tarjan who developed Serenade from a foal to represent the U.S. on teams on both sides of the Atlantic. Alice and Serenade, bred in Columbus, North Carolina by Maryanna Haymon, competed in the World Cup Final in Omaha last April as well as on U.S. teams at Nations Cups in Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2022 and Aachen, Germany in 2023.
Anna Marek of nearby Dunnellen and Fayvel, 14-year-old KWPN gelding, were runner-up on 68.277%. The duo won the Grand Prix Friday following a sweep of the World Cup event in Wellington a week ago.
Allison Carmichael of Greenwich, Connecticut, on the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Figaro placed third on 68.170%.
