Evi Strasser and daughter Tanya Strasser-Shostak have been temporarily suspended by Equestrian Canada for alleged horse abuse.

Evi and Tanya have competed for the past month at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida but the suspensions by Canada’s governing body means they cannot compete anywhere until the cases are resolved.

Evi, 60 years old, rode for Canada at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany and World Cup Finals in 1995, 1997, 2005 and 2007.

Tanya, 28, has competed in five North American Youth championships and at the World Young Horse Championships in 2023.

Both have competed extensively throughout Europe and North America.

Details have not been released by Equestrian Canada and there was no response to queries to the organization.

The suspensions come at the same time as investigations are being conducted by the U.S. Equestrian Federation and law enforcement bodies into Cesar Parra of Jupiter, Florida. He was suspended by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Feb. 2.
