BALVE, Germany, June 11, 2023–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB completed confirmation as the top German partnership with a win in the championships Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday on a score of 90% a day after capturing the Grand Prix Special in three straight days of competitition.
Jessica and the 17-year-old Trakehner mare, Olympic, European and two-time World Cup champions and current world No. 1, received a score of 90.075% for the musical performance.
Frederic Wandres on Bluetooth OLD, the 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding that was the Big Tour star of last winter’s Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, was runner-up on 81.775%.
Ingrid Klimke on her German team world championship mount Franziskus FRH, 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion, placed third on 80.650%.
Sönke Rothenberger did not compete the nine-year-old Fendi in the Freestyle with the field whittled down to 12 starting rider and horse combinations.
Sönke and the Danish Warmblood stallion won the Grand Prix Friday and was reserve in the Special Saturday.
The next competition to decide the German team for the European Championships in September is the CHIO Aachen at the end of this month.
The team for the Aachen CDIO5* Nations Cup was anounced as Jessica von Bredow-Werndl with TSF Dalera BB, Ingrid Klimke with Franziskus FRH, Frederic Wandres with Bluetooth OLD, Isabell Werth with DSP Quantaz. Reserves: Sönke Rothenberger and Fendi, Matthias Alexander Rath and Thiago GS. Aachen CDI4*: Sönke Rothenberger and Fendi, Matthias Alexander Rath and Thiago GS, Frederic Wandres and Duke of Britain FRH, Dorothee Schneider and First Romance, Bianca Nowag-Aulenbrock with Florine OLD, Katharina Hemmer with Denoix, Semmieke Rothenberger with Flannel, Isabell Werth with Emilio.
