‘s-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, Mar. 11, 2022–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB, Olympic and European champion partnership, won the Dutch Masters World Cup Short Grand Prix Friday within a fraction of their best score.
Jessica and the 15-year-old Trakehner mare, ranked No. 1 in the world, scored 84.026% as they pursue the first start for the duo at a World Cup Final. The pair’s best was 84.395% posted in a Short Grand Prix last month.
The only annual global championship is scheduled for Leipzig, Germany April 6-10. Jessica’s four previous Finals were on Unee BB and included three third place finishes.
This ride for Jessica, who earlier this week reported she is pregnant with her second child, was the 11th straight victory beginning with the Oympics in Tokyo last July and included a sweep of the European Championships in September rode.
Isabell Werth, who has already clinched a start as the defending champion by completing two previous World Cup qualifiers, rode DSP Quantaz to a score of 79.053% for second place. The result for Isabell and the 12-year-old Germany Sport Horse stallion beat their previous best of 78.553% for the Short Grand Prix. The pair have a high score of 80.348% in the long form Grand Prix from 2020.
Charlotte Fry of Great Britain and Dark Legend, 14-year-old KWPN gelding, were third on 76.447%, also a personal best for the Short Grand Prix by beating their previous high mark of 74.526% set in December.
The Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday will determine points to qualify for the final. A World Cup in Slovakia is also scheduled for this weekend that will impact standings.
