LE MANS, France, Feb. 13, 2021–Nanna Skodborg Merrald rode Blue Hors Zack to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday to complete a double winning Big Tour debut on the 17-year-old KWPN stallion.
The Danish rider and Zack scored 74.362% as the unanimous choice of the five judges for first place in the Special, a day after capturing the Grand Prix on 74.174%.
Zack was competed by Daniel Bachmann Andersen until October, 2019, including on the Danish team at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the 2019 European Championships as well as two World Cup Finals, when he rode for the Blue Hors stud. The pair is still ranked No. 10 in the world on the FEI standings in which results going back almost two years have been frozen due to coronavirus.
The Netherlands’ Lynn Maas on Eastpoint was second on 70.191%.
Australia’s Simone Pearce was third on Amandori on 69.574% to complete the first Big Tour outing of the 10-year-old German Sport Horse stallion owned by Germany’s Gestüt Sprehe for whom she is the stable rider. The were fourth in the Grand Prix Friday on 71.022%.
