Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour of Denmark and Mount St. John Freestyle claimed the No. 1 rider and horse rankings in the world, replacing Isabell Werth who had held the position with Wendy de Fontaine for seven months following the Paris Olympics.
Cathrine’s success with rankings with the 16-year-old Hanoverian mare that she began competing internationally in December, 2023 came after six straight victories following the Olympics where the partnership led Denmark to team silver.
Isabell and Wendy dropped to second in the world at the end of February with Britain’s Charlotte Fry on Glamourdale remaining in third and the Netherlands’ Dinja van Liere and Hermes at No. 4.
Becky Moody on Jagerbomb, who was a last-minute substitute for Britain’s Olympic team, both moved up to the pair’s highest ever ranking in fifth, from seventh the previous month.
Germany’s Frederic Wandres and his Olympic team mount Bluetooth OLD both were elevated to sixth place, up from ninth for the rider and eighth for the horse.
Justin Verboomen of Belgium made the biggest leap, to 18 from 124th while his mount, the nine-year-old stallion Zonik Plus, climbed to 19th from 137th.
Adrienne Lyle, the top rider for USA, climbed to 20th from 23rd and Helix, her Olympic mount on which she has qualified for the World Cup Final in Basel, Switzerland next month moved to 21st.
