The trophy above sent by the FEI–the International Equestrian Federation–to the winning team of the WELLINGTON, FLORIDA, USA Nations Cup team that was won by Germany, with USA silver and Sweden bronze.

It’s 4,762 miles/7,664 km from Lausanne, Switzerland, headquarters of the FEI, across the Atlantic to Wellington, Florida in North America which hosted the opening event in the official Nations Cup series as it has for most of the decade and a half the events have been staged.

The FEI could have saved a lot of postage–Compiègne, France is virtually next door at 400 miles/644km and on the same continent. Compiègne, as it has for several years, has its Nations Cup competition the first week of May.

Maybe the German team or Wellington’s Global Dressage Festival organizers can forward the award to Compiègne.

One wag suggested giving the trophy to an FEI delegation arriving in Wellington next week to conduct an inspection of how the new noseband policy is being implemented.

The delegation flying across the Atlantic to warmer weather and comfort in hotels in Wellington could take the trophy back to Lausanne?

Except the delegation has scheduled a visit only to the hunter-jumper complex and not to Global dressage, a 10-minute golf cart ride away. Global will host the last North American League World Cup qualifier over the same days as the jumper show, both competition venues under the same ownership and management.

The FEI on Friday announced a new “strategic organizational restructuring aimed at strengthening our operational framework and fostering sustainable growth for the future.”
