Morgan Barbançon, France’s top rider, has been banned for three months by the French Anti-Doping Agency that threatens her appearance at the Olympics in her home nation.

The suspension of the 31-year-old rider was announced Tuesday following a lengthy appearance recently before the anti-doping agency that questioned her about three location faults in which an official conducts spot checks of athletes. Morgan competed at the 2012 London Olympics while riding for Spain but switched to ride for France in 2018 and competed on the French team at the Tokyo Olympics for France.

She to the anti-doping panel that she had problems contacting the agency.

The Paris Games start at Versailles at the end of July–three months from now.

She can appeal the suspension to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

If Morgan, who was expected to compete at Paris on Habana Libre A, a 12-year-old KWPN gelding, is not on the Olympic team the currently most successful French competitor is Pauline Basquin but may not be enough for France to qualify in the Grand Prix that is required to compete in the Grand Special that will decide medals.
