WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 28, 2026–The U.S.-bred Sonnenberg’s Primrosa was ridden by Mackenzie Peer to a narrow win in the Festival of Champions 6-year-old preliminary test Friday.
Mackenzie, following a lengthy training and competition schedule in Europe, and the Dutch-registered mare (Secret x Ampere) scored 85.400% with the individual marks consistent: 8.5 for trot, 8.7 walk, 8.5 canter, 8.4 submission and 8.6 perspective. The rider is based at Sonnenberg farm in Sherwood, Oregon where Primrosa was bred.
The duo edged past the Westfalen gelding Ein Traum (Escamillo x Sandro Hit) that Hannah Irons, aged 26, of Queenstown, Maryland rode to a score of 85.200% with similar individual marks–8.3 trot, 8.7 walk, 8.5 canter, 8.5 submission and 8.6 perspective.
The 7-year-old division was won by Petra Warlimont, German-born but resident in Evergreen, Colorado, on Deambulo PWD on 78.279%.
