BASEL, Switzerland, Jan. 14, 2023–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB won the World Cup Grand Prix Saturday while German team mate Isabell Werth on DSP Quantaz was runner-up in her battle to earn an invitation to the Final in Omaha.
Jessica and the 16-year-old KWPN mare were awarded 83.456% for the win. As the reigning champion, Jessica has already qualified for Omaha by completing two World Cup events, which she did on Dalera and Ferdinand BB earlier in the Western European League.
Isabell and Quantaz, a 13-year-old German Sport Horse stallion, were awarded 78.261% for second place.
Holland’s Dinja van Liere on the 11-year-old KWPN gelding Hartsuijker posted a personal best 75.609% for third place.
The Freestyle Sunday will decide points toward qualifying for Omaha in early April.
As Jessica is already qualified and only three riders from one nation can compete in the lineup of 18 combinations in the Final two places are available for Germany. Ingrid Klimke is currently atop the Western European standings with 55 points while Benjamin Werndl, Jessica’s old brother, who placed fifth on Daily Mirror Saturday on 75.065% has 50 points. Isabell is currently on 37 points but can earn another 20 points in the Freestyle Sunday.
