EXLOO, Netherlands, Jan. 6, 2023–Charlotte Fry rode Dark Legend to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday for the world No. 1 rider to log a double victory in the first international dressage event of 2023. Fellow Briton Annabella Pidgley on Gio was runner-up.
Lottie as Charlotte is popularly known, and the 15-year-old KWPN gelding were awarded 74.298% for the win, a day after capturing the Grand Prix on the horse that is the 26-year-old rider’s third ranked mount behind world No. 1 Glamourdale and ninth ranked Everdale.
Annabella and Gio, the 12-year-old KWPN gelding that was competed by Charlotte Dujardin at the Tokyo Olympics and 2021 European Championships, scored 73.276%. This was the second international competition for the 18-year-old Annabella and Gio, but the rider has been successful in youth divisions.
Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen and the 12-year-old Westfalen stallion Vayron placed third on 72.766%.
