MOTESICE, Slovakia, Nov. 13, 2022–Morgan Barbançon rode the 10-year-old Habana Libre to victory Sunday in the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle, the last Central European qualifier for the Final in Omaha next April.
In the debut musical performance for the 10-year-old KWPN gelding, the French rider received a score of 74.415% to receive enough points to transfer to the Western European League and move her into the top tier of qualifiers at this early stage. Morgan has competed at four World Cup Finals so far.
Austria’s Katharina Haas on Let It Be NRW, 12-year-old Westfalen mare, was runner-up on 73.825%.
Joanna Robinson of Finland and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Diego were third on 70.850%.
Central Europe is assigned two starting places in the World Cup Final.
The top two in the region’s standings are Justina Vanagaite of Lithuania and Alisa Glinka of Moldova. Justina rode Nabab in the 2021 European Championships and the World Championships this past summer while Alisa competed Aachen in the World Cup in April as well as the world championships this summer and the Europeans in 2021.
