SOMERFORD PARK, England, Sept. 18, 2020–Gareth Hughes and his European Championship mount Sintano van Hof Olympia on Sunday won Britain’s Grand Prix Freestyle Championship.
Gareth and the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding won on a score of 79.875% that was the highest ever for the pair, but it was a national competition with all British judges.
The duo squeezed by Kathleen Kröncke, the England-based German, that scored 79.550% for reserve champion on San Royal.
Kathleen and the 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding captured the Grand Prix title Saturday. She rode San Royal on German Nations Cup teams in 2018, before moving to Britain.
Britain’s Andrew Gould on Indigro, a nine-year-old KWPN stallion, was third on 77.950%.
