AACHEN, Germany, July 2, 2022–Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour rode Bohemian to victory in the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday for the fourth win by the Danish rider at the World Equestrian Festival. Salvino ridden by America’s Adrienne Lyle was eliminated for blood in the mouth just hours after Isabell Werth on DSP Quantaz was rung out of the Nations Cup for the same occurrence.
Cathrine and the 12-year-old Westfalen gelding scored 84.120% after winning the Grand Prix Wednesday. The 30-year-old Cathrine on Vamos Amigos won both the Grand Prix and the Special to lead the Danish team to an historic first ever victory in the CDIO5* Nations Cup.
Adrienne Lyle riding a high scoring performance on the 15-year-old Olympic silver medal Hanoverian stallion was eliminated when the horse showed blood in the mouth.
It was the latest setback for the United States a month from the world championships as it followed the elimination of Katie Duerrhammer and Quartett when the horse nicked a leg after the ride but before the equipment inspection. Isabell Werth and DSP Quantaz seeking to retain dominance in 45 years of the CDIO5* Nations Cup was eliminated for blood in the mouth of the horse.
Spain’s José Antonio García Mena and Sorento, a 15-year-old Westfalen gelding, placed second in the Freestyle on 77.865%.
Belgium’s Laurence Vanommeslaghe on Edison riding Edison to classic rock music that was a hit at Florida’s Global Dressage Festival over the winter placed third on 76.225%.
