AACHEN, Germany, July 3, 2022–Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour was the Queen of Aachen dressage with a victory on Vamos Amigos in the CDIO5* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday for a complete sweep of the Nations Cup and on world No. 2 Bohemian of the CDI4*.

The musical performance by Cathrine and the 10-year-old stallion Vamos Amigos before 6,300 spectators in the Deutsche Bank Stadium was awarded a personal best score of 88.375%. The 30-year-old rider was crowned CDIO champion on her 2016 Olympic mount in 2018.

Cathrine will lead a powerful Danish team that made history here by winning for the first time in 45 years of Nations Cup competitions just a month before the world championships in Herning, Denmark. She said she would not decide until a few days before the championships which horse to ride.

Frederic Wandres on Duke of Britain FRH also posted a personal best 83.880% for runner-up and the highest scoring German combination and likely to win selection to his first ever championship team.

Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen who lost the ride on Marshall-Bell when the horse was sold but then returned by new owners for a world championships bid placed third on 82.985%.

Both Cathrine and Daniel are coached by Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and Kyra Kyrklund. Nathalie was dropped as the Danish coach in a situation that has been likened to Debbie McDonald who was the U.S. team coach until last year but coaches both Adrienne Lyle and Steffen Peters, America’s top dressage riders.
