Dinja van Liere and Hermès, the hometown favorites, won the Grand Prix Special on 77.957% in drizzling rain that did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Dutch crowd. Dinja and the 10-year-old KWPN stallion led the Netherlands to the top of the standings along with the United States after the Grand Prix.

Nicole Wego-Engelmeyer riding Saphira Royal as an individual after Germany withdrew from the competition was second on 72.553%.

Alice Tarjan of Oldwick, New Jersey and the American-bred Serenade MF, a nine-year-old mare, were third on 71.191%.

Katie Duerrhammer of Greenwood Village, Colorado who placed seventh in the Grand Prix on Paxton had difficulties in the Special and placed 14th on 66.064%.

The victory in the Freestyle by Patrik Kittel and Blue Hors Zepter pulled Sweden level with the USA on points, but the tie was broken by the results from the Grand Prix which favored the Americans. © 2022 Ken Braddick/DRESSAGE-NEWS.com
