The 2026 World Cup Finals of dressage and jumping will be held in Fort Worth, Texas for the first time while the 2025 Finals of dressage, jumping and vaulting have been awarded to Basel, Switzerland.

Assignment of the annual dressage championships centered on the Freestyle was made by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) board meeting over the past two days.

The new dates come after cancellation of the Finals in 2020 and 2021 primarily because of the coronavirus pandemic as well as an outbreak of herpes virus in Europe.

The Basel Final in 2025 will also be a first for dressage. The jumping Final was held there in 2010.

The United States has emerged as a major host of the championships that has a lineup of 18 rider and horse combinations in dressage, including three from North America as of next year.

The first dressage Final in the United States was in Los Angeles in 1995.

However, the event that was created primarily as a championship of the European winter indoor circuit made a major shift in the sport with Las Vegas as the first ever dual championships of dressage and jumping in 2005 followed by Finals 2007, 2009 and 2015 in the self-styled Entertainment Capital of the World. Omaha hosted the event for the first time in 2017, earning praise around the world. The Final was assigned to Las Vegas again in 2020 but canceled because of coronavirus.

Omaha is scheduled again for next April. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia will host the Finals in 2024.

Other dressage championships named by the FEI include the 2024 European Championships–Under-25 and Young Riders to St. Margarethen, Austria July 16-21 with Juniors, Children’s and Ponies in Opglabbeek-Sentower Park, Belgium in mid-July 2024.
