WIESBADEN, Germany, June 5, 2022–Australia’s Kristy Oatley rode Du Soleil to victory in the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday for a double victory at this premier competition.
Kristy and the 18-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 79.430%, just shy of their highest score for a musical performance of 79.840% posted at Neumünster, Germany in February. The pair won the Grand Prix Saturday.
Kristy is seeking to compete at the world championships in Herning, Denmark in two months that would be the second on Du Soleil, her partner for the past seven years. Their first world championship was at Tryon in 2018, as well as the 2016 Olympics and the 2017 World Cup Final. All told, Kristy has ridden at four Olympics and four world championships.
Belgium’s Laurence Vanommeslaghe and Edison were second on 77.570%. Laurence and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding also placed second in the Grand Prix and on Havalon earlier Sunday were second in the Grand Prix for the Special.
Germany’s Anja Plönzke on Tannenhof’s Fahrenheit, a 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding, were awarded 76.615% for third place, as they were in the Grand Prix.
