Don Johnson FRH that Isabell Werth rode on Germany’s gold medal team at the 2013 European Championships was put down due “an incurable leg fracture” at the age of 24.
Isabell described Don Johnson as “the leader of our retirement band.”
“Dear Jonny,” Isabell wrote, “you were a very special character horse, my ‘sparring partner’ for almost 15 years, a centipede who became a model athlete. You were always there when there was a party somewhere and always good for a special dance. You remained faithful to you and us until the end! Thanks for the special moments and years.”
Don Johnson was ridden by Isabell at the World Cup Final as well as the European Championships in 2013. The partnership also earned team bronze at the 2015 Europeans.
