The climb of Belgium’s Justin Verboomen to No. 3 in the world, Carl Hester jumping 89 places to fifth behind team mates Charlotte “Lottie” Fry and Becky Moody and three Germans in the top eight set the tone of international Grand Prix rankings three weeks ahead of the European Championships.
Lottie and her 14-year-old KWPN stallion Glamourdale top both the rider and horse International Equestrian Federation rankings. Germany superstar Isabell Werth remains at No. 2.
Justin Verboomen is up two places following success in Aachen, Germany last month to become the third ranked rider while his Zonik Plus, nine-year-old Hanoverian stallion, is ranked No. 2 in the standings that separate riders and horses.
Great Britain’s Becky Moody remains in fourth while her home-bred Jagerbomb is third ranked.
The jump for Britain’s seven-time Olympic rider Carl Hester to No. 5 from 94 at the end of June was matched by that of his Paris Olympic mount Fame that also went to No. 5 but from 109th spot the previous month with an undefeated run of six victories this year.
For Germany, Frederic Wandres moved to sixth from 20th on his 2024 Paris Games partner Bluetooth OLD with a spectacular leap also to sixth from 132nd the previous month.
Katharina Hemmer, selected for the German team at the Europeans, her first senior international championship, moved from 11th to No. 8, the same ranking as her United States-owned Denoix PCH.
Norway’s Isabel Freese and Total Hope OLD were both ranked seventh.
America’s Adrienne Lyle and her Olympic mount Helix were both ranked 17th. Anna Marek slipped a couple of places to 28th while Marcus Orlob remained at 33rd.
