HAGEN, Germany, June 7, 2025–Susan Dutta rode Don Design DC to their first victory in Europe in winning the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.

In completing an American sweep of the three competitions, the partnership based in Wellington, Florida but frequently competing in Europe scored 71.785% for the victory for the musical performance. Don Design, now 15 years old, has been owned for the past decade by Susan and her husband, Tim Dutta, whose horse transportation company is a major supporter of American high performance teams.

Kevin Kohmann on Duenensee, also based in Wellington, won both the Grand Prix and Special in this event that featured eight American riders. The goal was to determine a four-member team for the CDIO5* Nations Cup at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany next month.

Germany’s Nicole Wego-Engelmeyer on the 13-year-old Danish mare Citation was runner-up on 71.760%.

Erin Nichols and the 16-year-old KWPN gelding on the American pair’s first senior competition swing placed third on 70.970%.

Erin and Elian Royale, however, competed at this same showground a year ago in the Under-25 division and a year earlier at Hagen and other European venues as a young rider.
