WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 6, 2025–Adrienne Lyle on Helix won the World Cup Grand Prix Thursday with a much calmer horse as the partnership nears its first competition anniversary.

Adrienne of Wellington and the 13-year-old  gelding that was her mount in the 2024 Paris Olympics scored 73.283% for the fourth win in five starts in their campaign to compete at the world championship scheduled for Basel, Switzerland the beginning of April.

Anna Marek of the Ocala area community of Dunnellon on Fayvel was awarded 72.348% for runner-up, with one of the five judges placing her first.

Germany’s Evelyn Eger on Tabledance, the 12-year-old Totilas offspring, placed third on 69.609%.

The freestyle to decide points is scheduled for Friday night. A victory by Adrienne, a three-time Olympian for USA, would earn her the maximum of 60 points and place her in the lead in North America that gets to send three riders to the Final. It would be her second World Cup Final having competed the now retired Salvino in 2019.

Second place would put them in a tie with Kevin Kohmann, current leader in North America with 57 points on his 2024 World Cup horse Dünensee while a win for Anna Marek would create a three-way tie.

Adrienne described Helix as a lot calmer “almost now maybe a little on the other direction. I expected him to get a little spicy there and he just stayed super calm.

“I think he’s just getting more comfortable with the routine and knowing what we’re going to do and it’s becoming just a little bit more of his everyday routine and things that aren’t surprising him,” she said of the horse that was bought for Adrienne by Zen Elite Equestrian of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the end of 2023.

The Olympic silver medal rider on Salvino first competed Helix in March last year then went to Europe where they qualified for the U.S. team for the Paris Games.

“It’s been a year and it’s nice to now finally have some time to train, come show, go back train, make a little more consistent schedule with him.”

The aim after the World Cup is to be selected for a group to go to Europe with the Nations Cup and CDI4* World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany as the primary focus this year.

Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén of Sweden and the 13-year-old Hyatt won the CDI3* Grand Prix on 71.348% with Pablo Gómez Molina of Spain on Servus Ymas runner-up on 68.348%.
