WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 5, 2025–Adrienne Lyle on Helix and Anna Marek on Fayvel this week battle for one of three spots for a North American to start at the World Cup Final in eight weeks with only one qualifying competition remaining in Wellington and one in California after Friday night under the lights here.

Based on past scores, both Adrienne on her 2024 Olympic team mount, the 13-year-old Helix, and Anna on the 15-year-old Fayvel have a chance to surpass or match Kevin Kohmann, current leader in North America with 57 points on his 2024 World Cup horse Dünensee.

With a victory in the freestyle Friday night, Adrienne of Wellington would get 20 points to go with 40 already earned and give her the maximum of 60 points and an almost certain start at the Final in Basel Switzerland the first week of April. Second place would give her 57 points to tie with Kevin, also of Wellington.

A win for Anna  of the Ocala area community of Dunnellon would bring her to 57 points for a possible three-way tie at the top. Her 37 points come from two competitions on Fire Fly, her 2023 Pan American Games gold medal mount.

That is possibly until next week when Geñay Vaughn of Elk Grove, California on Gino, her 13-year-old KWPN gelding, is expected to compete at Del Mar, the last World Cup event on the West Coast. A win there would give her a maximum of 60 points and a ticket to the Final. Runner-up would give her a total of 57 points.

The last World Cup event of the season, at Wellington at the end of February, where Anna is already planning to compete Fire Fly should unravel any undecided places to go to the annual championship.
