MADRID, Nov. 30, 2024–Pauline Basquin and Sertorius de Rima Z IFCE won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday for the first Big Tour double victory for the Paris Olympic partnership.
Pauline and the 14-year-old Zangersheide gelding scored 80.925% following the Grand Prix victory. The points earned in the musical performance moved her into the top six in the Western European League and consolidated her place as the top French rider after competing in two World Cup qualifiers.
Pauline, whose performances at the Olympics, the 2022 World Championships and 2023 Europeans, has positioned her at 13th in the world and clearly adored by French fans.
This was her first World Cup victory and she has not previously qualified for a Final championship.
Germany’s Carina Scholz on the 17-year-old Hanoverian gelding Tarantino was runner-up on 79.415%, as the pair were in the Grand Prix, and to stand alone in first place after four of 11 qualifiers in Western Europe that gets to send nine combinations to the Final in Basel, Switzerland next April.
Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer-Salat on Elegance, 15-year-old KWPN gelding, placed third on 77.735%.
The next qualifier in Western European is in London Dec. 17-19.
