Vayron that Daniel Bachmann Andersen rode on Denmark’s Olympic silver medal team in Paris three months ago has returned to the home of the owners in Germany, the rider announced Tuesday.

Vayron is a 13-year-old Westfalen stallion that Daniel began competing two years ago after Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg had developed the horse through Small Tour. Vayron (Vitalis x Gloster) is owned by Sandra and Rudolf Spiekermann of Germany

Daniel and Vayron were runners-up behind Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour on Mount St. John Freestyle in last week’s World Cup qualifier in Herning, Denmark.

Daniel reported on his Instagram page: “This morning, Vayron has left our stable, unfortunately. And he’s been picked up by his owners to go to their home. And I’m, of course, very sad, but I also want to remember all the fantastic results we’ve had. And experiences, and… and first of all a fantastic friendship with a fantastic horse and he has taught me so much.

“And we have been on a journey that has been absolutely fantastic and amazing and he’s developed to become one of the best horses in the world and right now it’s very hard. I hope he will have a great time and that they will take good care of him.”

St. Georg quoted the owners: “We have had Vayron since he was a foal and we are very grateful to Daniel for supporting him so much. The Olympics was the goal, that’s hard to top. Denmark is already a long way away and we only saw our horse two or three times a year. We hardly had any connection with our horse any more. That’s why we brought him home.”
