Isabell Werth remained world No. 1 rider while her Olympic gold medal mount Wendy de Fontaine joined her at the top of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) standings at the end of September.

Isabell, the most decorated equestrian in Olympic history with a total of 14 medals, moved to No. 1 at the end of August and retained the position in . Wendy, the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood mare that the German rider began competing at Big Tour last February, is top of the standings for horses for the first time.

Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry and her Olympic mount Glamourdale both filled the No. 2 spots in the system that ranks riders and horses separately.

Dinja van Liere and her Netherlands Olympic team horse, Hermes, were both ranked third.

Former world No. 1 Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, double gold medalist at Paris and the previous Olympics at Tokyo, dropped to fifth spot from second the previous month while her her now retired equine partner TSF Dalera BB fell from No. 1 to 39th.

The top ranked U.S. rider was Adrienne Lyle of Wellington, Florida at 37th place with her Olympic mount Helix 38th.

Anna Marek of Dunnellon, Florida was one spot behind at 38th, with Steffen Peters of San Diego, California at 42nd, Marcus Orlob of Loxahatchee, Florida 47th, Endel Ots of Wellington 51st and Anna Buffini of Rancho Santa Fe, California 55th.
