The success of Adrienne Lyle on Helix at TerraNova CDI4* boosted the partnership to third ranking in the official United States Olympic standings with Endel Ots on Zen Elite’s Bohemian in fourth place and the Adrienne Lyle-competed Lars van de Hoenderheide as the third horse newly acquired by Heidi Humphries’ Zen Elite operation in the fifth spot.

Steffen Peters on Suppenkasper remains at No. 2 and the highest ranked to fulfill requirements in the combination’s bid for a second Olympics to go with their World Equestrian Games and Tokyo Olympic silver medals and what would be the rider’s sixth Games. Steffen and Suppenkasper and Adrienne on the now retired Salvino are the only American rider and horse combinations to have ever earned Olympic and world championship silver medals.

Sarah Tubman of Wellington on First Apple is still atop the standings based on Grand Prix and Special scores from the team gold medal performances at the Pan American Games last October, but results from a CDI this year are required.

With less than a month to the deadline to make a “short” list for about eight rider and horse combinations to go to Europe to decide the three-member team for Paris Olympics at the end of July, two more CDIs are scheduled for Florida and two in California. This week will see the World Equestrian Center in Ocala and at Del Mar in California. The final two will be TerraNova in Florida and Temecula in California on the same dates of May 2-5.

This week’s Ocala CDI3* includes entries for: First Apple, Helix, Bohemian, Lars van de Hoenderheide, Ashley Holzer on Hansel and Katherine Bateson-Chandler on Haute Couture. Anna Marek and Kevin Kohmann, ranked 7th and 10th, respectively, are on their way to competing at the World Cup Final in Saudi Arabia next week where the results could impact their standings.

At Del Mar, both Steffen on Suppenkasper and Anna Buffini on Fiontini are entered in the CDI4*.
