Dantino (Dante´s Junior x Fürstenball)sold for €1.2/US$1.293 million at the 44th annual PSI Auction.

ANKUM, Germany, Dec.10, 2023–Dantino (Dante´s Junior x Fürstenball) sold for €1.2/US$1.293 million, the highest priced dressage horse at the 44th annual PSI Auction presented by Paul Schockemöhle and Ulli Kasselmann.

The four-year-old gelding was one of the dressage horses that brought a total of €8,476,000/US$9,131,618 with an average price of €353,167/$380,484. Show jumpers fetched a total of €11,560,000/$12,454,000.

Buyers came from Australia, the United States, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Italy, Colombia, Mexico, Taiwan and Hong Kong among others.

“We have experienced something that we could not have imagined before,”said Ulli Kasselmann. “Our activities, long-term friendships and competitions have given us potential customers, who have confidence in us and know that we have the best horses and a very good after-sales service. This is our chance to succeed in the market.”

The P.S.I. Lifetime Achievement Award went to Martin Richenhagen, a German who became CEO of AGCO, a major U.S. corporation whose Fendt brand was the largest supporter of the German Equestrian Federation. The company also sponsored some U.S. competition divisions. Based in Atlanta, he was also the initiator and chairman of the German-American Chamber of Foreign Trade. He rode as a youngster, competed up to advanced level and was an international dressage judge for several years. He was manager of the German dressage team at the CHIO Aachen and the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Grand Prix rider Frederic Wandres received the P.S.I. Award in the Sport category. He was cited for his world ranking of sixth, multiple international accomplishments with different horses, three consecutive titles for the most successful dressage rider at CHIO Aachen as well as team bronze at the World Championships with Duke of Britain FRH in 2022 and European Championship team silver with Bluetooth OLD this year.
