MADRID, Nov. 25, 2023–José Daniel Martín Dockx of Spain rode the 13-year-old PRE stallion Malagueno LXXXIII to a personal best score to win the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.

Dani and Malagueno scored 80.870% for the victory in the fourth of 11 qualifiers in Western Europe leading to the Final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next April.

The pair competed at the 2022 World Cup Final and then on Spain’s team at the World Championships. The duo competed at the European Championships in August this year.

Dani competed at the 2012 and 2018 Olympics on the American-owned Grandioso.

Germany’s Matthias Alexander Rath on Destacado FRH, 10-year-old Hanoverian stallion, was runner-up on 79.720%. The combination won the Grand Prix Friday.

Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer-Salat on the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Elegance was third on 78.425%.

London Excel Dec. 13-15 is the next WEL competition.
