SANTIAGO, Oct. 2, 2023–Colombia’s Santiago Cardona riding Dostojewski kicks off the Pan American Games dressage competition Sunday with two starting places for teams at the 2024 Paris Olympics up for grabs.

Competition starts with 14 Prix St. Georges combinations followed by 22 at Grand Prix that receive three percentage bonus points.

The second day of team competition–Intermediate 1 and Grand Prix Special–is Monday to decide medals and the two starting places for Paris as long as the squad has at least two Grand Prix pairs.

Christian Simonson on Son of a Lady at Small Tour is first to go for the USA–already qualified for Paris–followed by Grand Prix combinations Anna Marek on Fire Fly, Codi Harrison on Katholt’s Bossco and Sarah Tubman on First Apple, the 2019 Pan Am individual gold medal partnership, completing the team.

Nations with teams with at least two Grand Prix duos:

Argentina–Maria Florencia Manfredi on Hands Up Chaparrita Z at Small Tour with Big Tour pairs Fiorella Mengani on Assirio D Atela, Micaela Mabragaña on Bradley Cooper and Gabriel Martin Armando on San Rio.

Brazil–Paulo Cesar dos Santos on Fidel da Sasa JE, Manuel Rodrigues Tavares on Rosa Belle, Renderson Silva de Oliveira on Fogoso Campline and João Victor Marcari on Feel Good VO, who also wraps up the team contest. All four are at Grand Prix.

Canada–Beatrice Boucher on Summerwood Limei at St. Georges followed by Big Tour duos Camille Carier Bergeron on Sound of Silence, Mathilde Blais Treteault on Fedor and Tokyo Naima Moreira-Laliberté on Statesman.

Chile–Mario Varga on Kadiene and Carlos Fernandez on Heroe XXV at St. Georges with Virginia Yarur on Ronaldo and Svenja Grimm on Doctor Rossi at Grand Prix.

Mexico–Carolina Cordoba Wolf on Johnny Cash and Carlos Maldonado Lara on Frans at St. Georges, with Maria Ugryumova on Impaciente PH and Marcos Santiago Ortiz Diez on Gentil at Big Tour.

Int. 1 Freestyle and Grand Prix Freestyle are scheduled for Wednesday.
