BONEO, Australia, Oct. 13, 2023–Melissa Galloway rode Windermere J’Obei W to victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Friday, the 10th straight win for the New Zealand partnership.
Melissa and the 13-year-old New Zealand bred gelding were awarded a winning score of 73.152%, the highest for the duo outside their homeland since beginning Big Tour almost four years ago. The pair competed extensively in Europe last year.
Mary Hanna, a six-time Olympian for Australia, and Ivanhoe, in only the second international Grand Prix for the 10-year-old KWPN gelding, was runner-up on a personal best 72.413%.
Jessica Dertell and Cennin, 16-year-old KWPN stallion, placed third on a personal best 71.587%.
Jessica is beginning the second year of competition with Cennin that was previously competed by Madeleine Witte-Vrees of the Netherlands including at the World Equestrian Games and World Cup Final in 2018 and the European Championships in 2017.
