OCALA, Florida, Sept. 16, 2023–With just over a month to go to the Pan American Games, American team partnership of Anna Marek and Fire Fly won the World Equestrian Center CDI3* Grand Prix Friday. Anna on Fayvel also captured the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle.
Anna of Dunnellon, an Ocala area community, and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding scored 69.652% for a runaway victory.
Anna and Fire Fly make up one of four U.S. combinations selected for the quadrennial Pan Ams in Santiago, Chile. The event offers two nations a start at the 2024 Olympics in Paris next year. The United States has already qualified for the Paris Games.
Ashley Holzer of Wellington, Florida and the 13-year-old Hanoverian mare Valentine that were on the 2022 World Championship team that earned the Paris berth placed second on 63.674%.
Anna the Fayvel, 13-year-old KWPN gelding, won the Freestyle on a score of 71.958%.
Ashley who had won the Grand Prix on Hansel Thursday was runner-up on 71.665%.
