WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 23, 2023–Codi Harrison on Katholt’s Bossco, an eight-year partnership, was the clear winner of the Festival of Champions Grand Prix Wednesday.
Codi of Wellington, Florida and the 16-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, scored 72.477% for the win, the only combination to score at least 70% of nine riders and horses in the national championship Grand Prix.
The 27-year-old Codi and Bossco is one of two Grand Prix combinations in the championship on the long list for the Pan American Games in Santiago in two months.
Emily Miles of La Cygne, Kansas on Java Dulce, 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, placed second on 69.673%.
Lehua Custer, also based in Wellington, on the 13-year-old KWPN gelding F.J. Ramzes was third on 69.434%.
Codi Harrison worked in Florida with Danish Olympian Lars Petersen when she acquired Katholt’s Bossco after the horse was competed by Maria Anita Andersen of Denmark in the world six-year-old championships in 2013.
With coaching by Lars, Codi competed Bossco in the North American Young Rider Championships in 2016 and 2017, then the Under-25 division 2018-19 before moving up to international Grand Prix two years ago.
The championship will be decided by results from Wednesday’s Grand Prix, the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle.
