Canada has launched an urgent appeal for donations to help send a full dressage team to the Pan American Games in Santiago that will decide whether the nation qualifies a team for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Equestrian Canada reported Thursday contributions had reduced the C$60,000 it was short of the C$332,500 needed to send a full team to Santiago for the Pan Ams Oct. 20–Nov. 5.

Two teams that can be mixed Big and Small Tour will qualify at Santiago for a start at the Paris Games. The United States has already qualified for Paris.

“I want to see the Canadian team at international competitions, and I know others do too,” said Wendy Christoff whose family foundation is a major contributor.”As a group of dedicated volunteers, we believe in our athletes and our program. I want to encourage everyone who can to join me with matching dollars to boost the campaign.

“To send our athletes to the Pan American Games in Chile, we need to raise $60,000. If our community can match the $20,000 we’ll be there.”
