Lithuania’s Justina Vanagaite with victory on Nabab at Pärnu, Estonia extended her early lead in 2024 World Cup qualifying on a weekend of three Central European League events. Moldova’s Alisa Glinka was the winner in Mariakalnok, Hungary while Morgan Barbançon of France posted a personal best score on Habana Libre to win in Lipica, Slovenia.
Justina Vanagaite and the 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding scored 75.220% to win the Grand Prix Freestyle in Pärnu and add another 20 points to the same number she claimed two weeks earlier. Justina and Nabab was a highly popular combination at April’s Final in Omaha, the first World Cup for the rider who with Nabab showed at the world championships last year and the 2021 European Championships.
Alisa Glinka and Abercrombie, a nine-year-old German Sport Horse, took the top spot in Mariakalnok on a score of 76.125%, in only the second Grand Prix Freestyle for the partnership that competed at the World Championships for seven-year-olds. Alisa competed Aachen at the 2022 Final and qualified but did not show at Omaha.
Morgan Barbançon of France and Habana Libre posted a personal best score of 77.545% to win in Lipica. Morgan and the 11-year-old KWPN gelding gets to take her 20 points to the Western European League. The duo won seven of 10 starts at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida over the winter. Morgan is a two-time Olympian who has also ridden in five World Cup Finals, four on Sir Donnerhall II OLD including Omaha in April.
The next Central European qualifier is Brno, Czech Republic next week.
