OCALA, Florida, May 25, 2023–Chris von Martels rode the 10-year-old Londoncrown to a clear victory in the World Equestrian Center CDI1* Prix St. Georges Thursday on the highest Small Tour score for a Canadian rider this year.

Chris and the Hanoverian mare scored 73.235% in only the second international competition for the partnership–the first was at Wellington’s Global Dressage Festival in January.

With the Pan American Games in five months and vital for Canada’s hopes of earning a start at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Chris told DRESSAGE-NEWS.com: “At this point we are just taking it day by day. We have, of course, high hopes for her, but will see where things are later in the season.”

The Pan Ams in Santiago, Chile are mixed Big and Small Tour. The United States has already qualified a team for Paris but for Canada, Brazil and other nations the Pan Ams are their last shot to earn a team start at the Olympics.

Anna Marek of the Ocala area community of Dunnellen and Duvel, 15-year-old KWPN gelding, was runner-up on 71.176%.

Jovanna Stepan of Wellington and the 14-year-old Hanoverian mare Fürstin Romantica were third on 69.951%.
