HARTPURY, England, July 9, 2022–Germany’s Kathleen Kröncke and San Royal won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday night the second international competition two years after relocating to England.
Kathleen and the 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 77.360%. The rider took a three-year break after marriage and the move to Britain.
British team rider Gareth Hughes on the 16-year-old gelding KK Woodstock was second on 75.240% in the pair’s first international competition in two years. Carl Hester, Gareth’s coach, took over Woodstock two months ago in an unsuccessful bid to qualify for the world championships in Herning, Denmark next month.
Caroline Chew of Singapore but based in England and Tribiani placed third on 74.345%. Tribiani, an 18-year-old Norwegian Warmblood gelding, has been Caroline’s equestrian partner for the past seven years. The duo competed in the 2015 and 2017 Southeast Asia Games, the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the Tokyo Olympics.
