WIESBADEN, Germany, June 4, 2022–Kristy Oatley and Du Soleil won the CDI4* Grand Prix Saturday that could qualify the partnership for a second world championship on Australia’s team.
Kristy and the 18-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 71.848% for the win after seven years at Big Tour that has included the 2016 Olympics, 2017 World Cup Final and the 2018 World Equestrian Games. The duo has earned at least four of the required two Grand Prix scores in for selection.
If selected for the world championships in Herning, Denmark in two months, the Germany-based Kristy will have compiled a career of four Olympics, five world championships and a World Cup Final.
Belgium’s Laurence Vanommeslaghe and Edison were second on 71.261%. Laurence and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding had a successful first winter circuit in Wellington, Florida this year, especially with their popular rock Freestyle.
Germany’s Anja Plönzke on Tannenhof’s Fahrenheit, a 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding, were third on 70.478%.
