TEMECULA, California, May 8, 2022–Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper, his Tokyo Olympics silver medal mount, won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Sunday to maintain an unbroken string of 25 CDI victories in the United States over the past two years.

Steffen of San Diego, California and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding scored 76.319% in the Special after capturing the Grand Prix two days earlier. The double victory caps the unbroken string of wins in Florida and California since January, 2020.

This was the last competition to determine the short list of up to eight American combinations to go to Europe for selection of the American team at the world championships in Herning, Denmark in August.

Steffen and Suppenkasper, were also on the 2018 World Equestrian Games silver medal team, and stand second behind Adrienne Lyle and Salvino on the U.S. Adrienne and Salvino were on the same two silver medal teams.

Nick Wagman, also of San Diego, the Tokyo Games reserve with Don John, scored 71.511% for runner-up in the Special as they were in the Grand Prix. This was the first competition for Nick and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding since this same event a year ago.

Matthew Cunningham of San Diego on Ribery placed third on 66.340%.
