TROISDORF, Germany, April 30, 2022–Remy Bastings and Eqador won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday in the first Big Tour Special for the Dutch combination.
Remy and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding scored 70.553% for the win. The pair has competed at CDI for almost two years with success in Grand Prix Freestyles.
Luxembourg combinations took second and third places.
Sascha Schulz on Dayman, whose only previous CDI Grand Prix competition was 11 months ago, placed second on 69.787% with Fie Christine Skarsoe on Imperador dos Cedros in third on 68.489%.
Australian Olympian Mary Hanna on Calanta competing in Europe for the first time in almost three years was fourth on 68.149%.
Big differences marked the scoring for Germany’s Matthias Alexander Rath on Thiago GS, winner of the Grand Prix a day earlier. The duo placed 15th on 64.106%. One judge placed the pair first on 72.128% while another placed them last on 57.128%.
