THERMAL, California, Nov. 20, 2021–Carly Taylor-Smith and Rosalut NHF posted a personal best score to win the Desert Dressage World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.

Carly of Somis, California and the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding were awarded 76.920% for the win in the qualifier in which only two combinations started. The previous best for the partnership was 75.360% at this same Desert International Horse Park a year ago. The pair won the Grand Prix Friday on a score of 69.053%

Günter Seidel of Cardiff, California and Equirelle, a 12-year-old KWPN mare, placed second on 76.614%.

Carly and Rosalut were the U.S. five-year-old champions in 2015.

Ashley Holzer of Wellington, Florida and Havanna lead the North American circuit for one of two places at the World Cup Final in Leipzig, Germany next April.

This was the last international dressage competition on the calendar for the U.S. West Coast until next April with the focus on Florida where a World Cup event will be staged at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala next month followed by seven weeks of the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington over the winter. That circuit includes three World Cup qualifiers.
