Lindsey Holleger and MW Ave Maria have been selected to receive the 2021 $25,000 Anne L. Barlow Ramsay Grant for U.S.-bred horses,  The Dressage Foundation announced Wednesday.

Lindsey, 25, of Middletown, New York, and the eight-year-old Oldenburg mare will use the award money for their first trip to compete in Wellington, Florida and train with Scott Hassler, a former U.S. young horse coach.

Ave Maria was bred by Nancy Holowesko and is owned by Jen Vanover of Maplewood Warmbloods, where Lindsey is head trainer.

Lindsey is a current Kundrun USEF Dressage Development Program rider and on Ave Maria was reserve Intermediate 1 champion at the U.S. Festival of Champions this year.

Of her plans to go to Florida, Lindsey said: “The exposure to the greatest trainers and horses in the country will mean so much to me as a rider in my education and experience. This grant will be a tremendous help on this journey with a very special horse.”

The Anne B. Ramsay Grant Fund was established in 2008 to support U.S.-bred horses that are competing at international dressage level.
