Lina Uzunhasan, the 22-year-old Netherlands-based American who ranked No. 2 in the world as a Young Rider, has made a successful international Small Tour debut on Furst Fabelhaft UZN.
Lina and Furst Fabelhaft won the CDI4* Prix St. Georges on a score of 71.128% and was runner-up in the Intermediate Freestyle on 72.583% at Le Mans, France.
“Fabby,” as the seven-year-old Rhinelander gelding is called, was acquired at the Hanoverian stallion licensing five years ago.
“He is and was always a sweetheart,” said Lina who lives with her family at Sint-Oedenrode, about 68 miles/110 km south of Amsterdam, Netherlands,”but had some issues with the bits/his mouth when he was young due to a tooth problem he had as a two-year-old.
“He is now the easiest horse I’ve ridden and such a chill happy athlete which also shows in the ring.”
Lina was born in Houston, Texas, but moved with her parents to their homeland of Turkey as a youngster and rode under the Turkish flag. The family moved to the Netherlands in 2015.
She competed Donna Ray, a KWPN mare in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 European Championships as a Junior Rider.
In early 2017, Lina switched to ride under the Stars and Stripes and were No. 2 on the International Equestrian Federation Young Rider rankings in July that year.
Donna Ray, now 13 years old, was sold and moved to a new owner earlier this month.
