HAGEN, Germany, June 10, 2021–Luca Sophia Collin on Descolari led Germany to the Future Champions Young Rider Nations Cup team gold Thursday with Denmark taking silver and Christian Simonson on Zeaball Diawind leading America to the bronze.

Luca and Descolari, on Germany’s silver medal team at the 2020 European Young Rider Championships, scored 75.294% to top the individual placings.

Christian Simonson of Ventura, California and Zeaball Diawind, a 9-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, placed second individually on 72.010%.

The American team’s European schedule was disrupted by some equine herpes virus tests raising concerns that caused the squad to cancel competing at Compiègne, France two weeks ago. The Future Champions at Hagen, often dubbed the world championship for youth, was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Rose Oatley on Rock Revolution led Germany to the Junior Rider Nations Cup gold medal with Denmark taking silver and Switzerland bronze.

Rose, the daughter of Australian Olympian Kristy Oatley, and the eight-year-old Westfalen gelding scored 74.495% to place second individually behind Denmark’s Alexander Yde Helgstrand on Grevens Sa Va with 74.748%.
