ORNAGO, Italy, May 7, 2021–Austria’s Christian Schumach on Te Quiero SF, a Totilas son, won one CDI4* Grand Prix Friday while Australia’s Simone Pearce on Amandori captured the other to earn Olympic qualifying scores in addition to her top ranked Destano.
In their debut Big Tour competition, Christian and the 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding scored 72.348% to tie the score of Simone Pearce on Destano. Christian was declared the winner based on collective marks.
In addition to the runner-up spot on Destano, the 14-year-old Hanoverian stallion on which Simone holds both Australian Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special records, Simone placed fourth on Double Joy with 71.022%. Austria’s Florian Bacher on Fidertraum was third on 72.261%. Double Joy, a 14-year-old Hanoverian stallion was shown only twice previously at Big Tour by owner, Susan Rüben, once in 2019 and once last year.
Simone rode Amandori, a 10-year-old German Sport Horse stallion, to a score of 72.957% to win the Grand Prix for the Freestyle. She had competed the horse only twice before in CDIs, at Intermediate II in 2020 and at Big Tour three months ago with a CDI3* Grand Prix score of 71.022%.
The 29-year-old Germany-based Simone has met qualifying requirements on both Amandori and Destano and one of two scores above 69% at Grand Prix.
