ACHLEITEN, Austria, July 25, 2020–Simone Pearce and Montevideo won the CDI4* Prix St. Georges Saturday to beat Isabell Werth in the Australian rider’s third win in four starts in the past month.
Simone and the eight-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Millenium x Sancisco OLD) scored 74.676%, with three of the five judges placing the pair first–two judges awarding more than 77%.
Simone and Montevideo, owned by Sabine Rüben who runs training and sales at Gestüt Sprehe, made their international debut to win two of three starts in Hungary a month ago.
Simone and Diamond First also won the five-year-old final on 89.400%. The pair took the preliminary test Friday. The pair were awarded 9.2 for the canter, 9 for trot, 8.5 for walk and 9s for both submission and perspective.
The victory came a day after Simone and Destano, an offspring of Gestüt Sprehe’s Desperados, set a new Australian Grand Prix record.
Isabell and Superb placed second on 72.206% in the first international competition for the combination.
Superb is an eight-year-old Hanoverian mare (Surprice x Donautanz) owned by Madeleine Winter-Schultze, Isabell’s primary sponsor.
Fellow German Frederic Wandres on Quizmaster was third on 71.588%.
