HAGEN, Germany, July 19,2020–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB posted a personal best and the first above 80% to win the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Sunday.
Jessica and the 13-year-old Trakehner mare were awarded 80.319% for the victory two days after capturing the Grand Prix in the return to competition for the world’s No. 4 partnership since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The previous best Special result for Jessica and Dalera, on Germany’s gold medal teams at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the 2019 European Championships, was 79.404% at this same showground in the Horses & Dreams event in 2019.
Patrik Kittel, a three-time Olympian for Sweden, and Well Done de la Roche CMF were scored at 76.532% for second place.
Patrik and the 12-year-old Swiss Warmblood mare are Sweden’s top ranked combination at No. 14 in the world that competed at the 2018 Tryon World Games and the 2019 Europeans. The last CDI competition for the duo was in December 2019.
Finland’s Henri Ruoste on Kontestro DB were third on 74.766% in only the fifth Big Tour start for the pair. Henri and the 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, who began international Grand Prix in February, competed at the last completed CDI in Europe, at Dortmund, Germany, before the pandemic lockdown.
Helen Langehanenberg rode Annabelle to a personal best score of 73.149% to take fourth place. It was the first score above 70% in either the Grand Prix or the Special for the German Olympic team rider in almost two years of Big Tour competition with the 12-year-old Holsteiner mare.
