ZAKRZÓW, Poland, Oct. 26, 2019–Anne Meulendijks and MDH Avanti won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday to give the Dutch championship pair the winner’s points to take back to Western Europe for the hotly contested campaign for the Final in Las Vegas next April.

The victory by Anne and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding on a score of 79.480% for a pair of victories at the wrapup Central European circuit.

This competition was the first for Anne and Avanti since competing on the Dutch team at the European Championships two months ago. The pair were successful at European Young Rider and Under-25 Championships before moving up to Big Tour early last year.

Austria’s Christian Schumach on Donna Karacho was second on 76.385% in only the second Big Tour event for the 12-year-old Westfalen mare and Tommie Visser of the Netherlands and Chuppy Checker were third on 74.615%.

Belarus riders Hanna Karasiova and Olga Safronova took the top two places in the Central European League but as only one rider from a country in that region can compete at the final, Russia’s Inessa Merkulova is next in line for an invitation to Las Vegas.
