EBREICHSDORF, Austria, April 13, 2019–Olympic team gold medal horse Showtime FRH was ridden by Dorothee Schneider in the return to competition after a nine-month injury timeout to win the Magna Racino CDI4* Grand Prix for the Special Saturday.

Dorothee and Showtime, a 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding and one of the most admired combinations in the sport, scored 76.870% for the win.

Compatriot Benjamin Werndl and Famoso OLD  placed second on 74.326% in only the second CDI Grand Prix start for the 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding. Benjamin, who a week ago competed Daily Mirror in his first World Cup Final, began Big Tour with Famoso last November.

Austria’s Victoria Max-Theurer debuted Benaglio, 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding, at Big Tour to place third on 72.478%.

The return of Showtime had been much anticipated.

Before Saturday’s victory, the pair had 24 Grand Prix starts for 10 wins since June, 2015.

Rio Olympics team gold in 2016 was followed by a break from competition of almost a year in 2017, another break in 2018 until the CDIO5* World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany last July and the withdrawal with a swollen leg after second place in the Grand Prix Special.

The injury knocked the pair out of contention for Germany’s World Equestrian Games team.
