ZHASHKIV, Ukraine, Mar. 1, 2019–Ukraine’s Inna Logutenkova on Fleraro won the World Cup Grand Prix and placed second on Don Gregorius Saturday, in the first of two back-to-back qualifying competitions in Central Europe as the last shows to earn a start at the annual championships next month.
Inna and Fleraro, 16-year-old Dansh Warmblood gelding, scored 70.543 per cent and on Don Gregorius, 17-year-old Oldenburg stallion, was awarded 70.196 per cent.
Inna rode Fleraro at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the 2017 European Championships. On Don Gregorius, Inna rode at the 2016 Olympics, the 2015 Europeans and the 2014 World Equestrian Games.
Maksim Kovshov on Flirt, on the Ukraine teams at the 2015 and 2017 Europeans as well as the 2014 NormandyWEG, were third on 66.022 per cent.
The results of the two Ukraine World Cup events will have no impact on the two places allocated to Central Europe for the final in Gothenburg, Sweden in a month.
Russians Regina Isachkina and Stanislav Cherednichenko are tied atop the league standings with 68 points and no rider in the last of the World Cup circuit shows can earn enough points to challenge their positions.
Hositilities between Russia and Ukraine limit opportunities for riders from the two nations competing in each other’s qualifying events.
